Math & Science Update

Math

This week we will finalize our exploration of  data as we investigate the 5 BRICS countries; Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.  Students will analyze data from the  World Bank website and create graphs and charts to show the trends and patterns they have discovered.

We have begun working with division.  Students will begin with the friendly number strategy and the partial quotient method of division.

Science

In science, students are now working on their cell analogy blog post.  Students are connecting the cell to something in the real world like a soccer team or a school.  For example, the cell is like a city.  The nucleus is like the mayor of the city because both have all the important information about the city and control the actions of the city.  We will then move on to learn how cells work together to form tissues and organs.
