Math & Science Update

Math

We start unit 3 in math this week.  The unit begins with students exploring data collection, organizing data, and interpreting data. Students will be gathering data about various countries and learning how to organize this data in spreadsheets and graphs.   In the second part of unit 3, students will review types of angles, geometric figures, and the use of the geometry template to measure and draw angles.  They will also explore angles formed by intersecting lines.  Students will also explore triangle types.  The Unit 2 test and Individual Profile of Progress sheet will be sent home this week.  Please review concepts and skills with a P on the Profile of Progress sheet.

Science

Students will continue exploring cells this week.  Students will demonstrate their knowledge of cells through the creation of a plant and animal cell model.  After the creation of their models. students will need to explain to their teacher all of the structures found in their cells and their functions.  Students will refine their scientific observation skills in comparing plant and animals cells.
